What? Dirty trim. What's that?

It is NOT the recommended way to set up your model, if you have enough patience to learn how to do it properly. But it IS the quickest way to get the transmitter setup so that you can safely fly your plane.

Ok, so your not patient enough. Who is?

So, power on the transmitter, press MENU once to get into SETUP mode (first page being MODEL SELECTION), press PAGE another time to get to the MODELSETUP screen, and so on, until you get to the INPUTS screen (5/13):

OK, so we have R(udder)E(levator)T(hrottle)A(ilerons) as default channel order. PAGE again:

MIXER

Well, what does this mean? This screen tells you what signal is calculated to go to the different channels of your receiver. In this default model, Ch1 is calculated as 100% of I(nput) Rud(der), and so on. This is what the second screen in the MONITOR page is all about. That screen shows the results of this calculation.

If you have another servo layout, like a v-tail, you need to dive into the MIXES screen to accomplish that. Or you import a predefined model form our site, as explained in "Importing Models".

Ok, press PAGE again:

SERVOS

Again, there is this same list of channels again, but now with some other info. Well, this is where we want to be. Here you can adjust the signals calculated by the mixes to result in the desired servo movements. So, if your servo would move in the wrong direction, it is in this screen that you can change that setting. Also, if full stick movement is sticking your servo in its end position, it is here that you can lower the limits of your servo corresponding to 100% mixer value.

Press PLUS and MINUS to select a line, press ENTER to enter navigation mode within the line, use PLUS and MINUS to navigate to the setting you want to change on the line, and press ENTER again to start changing the setting.

ENTER again to stop editing, EXIT to get back to navigation between lines.

Sounds all complicated, but you must just give it a go with trial and error.

The first value is the center trim, the second (with a minus in front) the lower servo limit, the third the high servo limit (with a flash in front, indicating in which direction you have moved a stick controlling that channel) and the fourth a flash indicating the servo direction (servo reversion).

Well, if you connect your ESC and servos to the correct channels, and set the proper center positions, limit the servos to the travel you need, you have set up your transmitter to fly your plane. If you feel you don't need full servo travel, just change the limits on the servo's. 

That's what we mean by 'dirty trim'.
