Taranis and OpenTX explained
The Taranis is a RC transmitter produced in China, and sold mainly through Hobbyking.com. More recently it is also available by local vendors, ensuring legal compliancy of it's radio transmission components.
It is the first transmitter with full telemetry support that allows to be flashed to run the OpenTX firmware.
Disruptive innovation for Radio Controlled models.
Why is this a disruptive turnaround? Well, OpenTX allows the user of a RC system to get the maximum out of it, by constant having features added to it by an active open source community. It is provided with a computer software called "companion" that allows you to simulate your transmitter on the PC, which is often much easier when preparing and testing difficult setups. Companion facilitates firmware upgrades, radio backups, and sharing programs (EPEE's) with other users.
On top of that, OpenTX has an integrated LUA scripting support, making the possibilities nearly endless.
These features make that a fully functional RC system, including standard telemetry on signal loss and receiver voltage, available for around 200€, is capable of much more than any other RC system on the market, often not starting to sell below 500€ or more.
Are there only advantages in OpenTX?
One of the main advantages advertised by adepts of OpenTX is it's enourmous versilaty. You can program almost every launch sequence or landing sequence you can think of, have 9 flight modes with 9 global parameters, adjustable per flightmode. Those global variables can be used to make practically any function flightmode specific if you like. There are logical switches to trigger functions on nearly any possible event, and a lot more ......
This is the reason why many have chosen OpenTX over a traditional RC system, where you have to stick within the program flow of the designers and cannot deviate from it.
Well, this power is at the same time it's shortcoming. Not always do we need all those options, the learning curve is steep, and since nothing is preprogrammed, you have to construct the functions you want by carefully designing the proper settings to work together.
And what has JustFly.be to do with this?
It is the intention of JustFly.solutions to join the best of both worlds. Provide copy-paste applications that will add the ease of use of the preprogrammed traditional transmitters to the OpenTX core, enabling you to finetune anything that is not yet to your personal liking once you've got the basics up and running.
We truly believe that the power of OpenTX can be unleashed by our products for those that are having trouble getting started with OpenTX, and for those that are merely attracted by a good value for money deal that the Taranis can offer.
In the end, our goal is for you to have fun and
